Sat, 07 May 2011 10:00:02 -0700WeeblyWed, 04 May 2011 01:00:00 -0700http://www.supportaplayoff.com/2/post/2011/05/first-post.htmlI just finished Dan Wetzel's book, Death to the BCS.  If you haven't read it and you consider yourself pro-playoff and anti-BCS, go buy it and read it right now.  Seriously, it's that good.  Everything that is corrupt about the BCS is brought to light in there in great detail.  Tax records, bowl revenues, under-the-table deals, it's all in there.  And it fuels your anti-BCS fire.  It is fantastic.

One thing that the book points out early is this tidbit that I didn't realize before: The NCAA has absolutely no official tie to the BCS.  They simply allow the BCS to do what they do, but there is no official NCAA sanction.  This got me thinking.  Obviously there is no getting through to the BCS tards.  They have their BS reasons for not having a playoff down pat, and they are clearly beyond reason.  But what about the NCAA leadership?  It seems to me that if the NCAA wanted a playoff they could just implement one.  Why isn't the pro-playoff community putting pressure on the NCAA instead of the BCS?  The BCS won't change -- they're clearly delusional.  But maybe maybe in the end it will be the NCAA president who decides to side with popular opinion and make the change to a playoff.

So I was excited to see this article at ESPN today.  In a letter on it's way to the NCAA, apparently the Justice Department is asking Mark Emmert directly, why there is no playoff for D-1 College Football.  Mark is the NCAA President.  This is awesome, let's see what he says!  And I am happy to hear the Justice Department is looking into the issue seriously.  I can't wait to see what the official response is.  Has Mark been brainwashed too?  We shall see.
