Bring the CHAOS

To all college football fans who want to bring down the BCS method of choosing a champion and would like to eventually see the implementation of a post-season playoff: We must pray for end-of-season chaos!

The chaos that I’m talking about is, of course, having multiple teams rightfully claim that they have a right to play in the national championship game.

The most effective argument comes from those teams who have gone undefeated during the year. We Playoff Hopefuls want as many undefeated teams as possible at the end of the regular season. This screams more loudly than anything else, especially if there are more than 3 teams in that position. If there are only 3, it’s easy to argue that one of the 3 isn’t as good as the top 2.

In a perfect season (meaning creating a perfect argument against the current method), we’d end up with one undefeated team from every conference. How about 5-10 undefeated teams at the end of the 2009 season? I can just imagine perfect chaos as a firestorm of conspiracy accusations erupts, aimed at the post-season system that left so many schools in the lurch. How sweet it would be!

So here we go, I’m rooting for an undefeated team from each of these conferences plus Notre Dame. If one team loses, we slide another into its place and pull for that one (meaning I’ll update this very post if a team loses). As many undefeated teams as possible, that’s our motto.

From the SEC: How about Florida or Alabama
From the Big 12: How about Texas
From the Big 10: How about Penn State Iowa
From the ACC: How about Virginia Tech Georgia Tech Miami
From the PAC 10: How about USC California UCLA
From the Big East: How about Cincinnati
From the Mountain West: How about TCU
From the WAC: How about Boise State
From the Independents Conference USA: How about Notre Dame Houston

Let’s root for this season to be the one that forces some real changes!
