I’m a college football fan, therefore I HATE the BCS. College football needs a playoff.

This blog compiles articles from all over the country that do two things. First, they further the opinion that the current method of choosing an NCAA D-1 FBS champion is unfair, completely biased, and total BS. Second, they make a push for a playoff.

As for me, I prefer Dan Wetzel’s plan for a 16-team playoff. I also like the 8-team playoff proposed by the Mountain West Conference last year. You can read the full proposal here.

Come read some articles, make a comment if you feel like it. Buy a wristband to show off your support of a playoff if you feel like it.

Why are the odds stacked against ever getting a playoff? Because the NCAA doesn’t even control the Football Bowl Subdivision, the only college football division without a playoff. Division 1-A is controlled by the presidents of the schools, who almost always vote to further their own money-grabbing purposes. All leagues, but especially the BCS leagues, considering the amount of money involved for the BCS games, are in bed with the bowl games and tv networks that pay out millions to the schools that play in their bowls. The school presidents, conference commissioners, tv network execs, and bowl committees are the ones conspiring to keep a playoff from happening. As always, it’s about the dollar.

But we won’t give up hope. Some day things will be different. Some day Division 1 will have a fair method of choosing a champion. In that day we’ll look back and laugh hysterically at these days, wondering how the BCS Presidents and TV execs got away with it.

Bill Hancock, John Swofford, Jim Delany, and all the rest of you hogs, this site is for you and your cronies.
